MTM MULTICHARGER
The MTM is a programmable thyristor charger with charging curves for all types of batteries (e.g. open, valve-regulated lead and NiCd) and applications (trucks, AGV’s, cleaning machines etc.)
The charging process is optimised for every existing battery type and application, so that the battery is fully charged in the shortest possible time with low water consumption and minimal wear on the battery.
Function
With thyristor regulation, the MTM can, independently of mains voltage variations, charge with constant current and voltage in sequences dictated by battery manufacturers. This means that the charger can be used more efficiently, shortening charging time compared to a Wa charger of the corresponding size.
The charger has an integrated real-time clock and automatic start as standard.
There are more options:
- Secondary choke coil for extra low ripple.
- IP 34-54 encapsulation.
- Special programmes.
- Alarm functions.
- Integrated pumps for acid circulation.
- IDB – Battery identification.
- Remote start.
Use of primary choke coils and toroid transformers make for devices with high output/weight ratios.
Microcomputer
The charger’s microcomputer continuously calculates charging output and monitors the charging progress.
It discontinues charging if any fault is encountered in the battery or the charger, temporarily or definitely, depending on the nature of the fault.
The MTM also indicates the fault type on the display.
The MTM is pre-programmed from the factory, but can easily be re-programmed from the keyboard when changing battery types. For this, a 4-digit authorisation code is required.
Time-controlled functions
The MTM is equipped with a real-time clock that allows time-controlled functions such as Extra Charging, Delayed Charging and Weekly Charging.
Extra Charging gives scheduled refresher charging after the weekend, which provides full battery output from the first day of the week. Delayed Charging allows use of any reduced electricity tariff. Start time is set via the keyboard.
The function allows lunch charging before 1:00 PM. With the Weekly Charging function, the real-time clock’s calendar function is used to adapt the charging curve to the work week.
Monday to Friday, a charging curve with fast recharging, as little as 5 hours, is used. During the weekend, automatic charging is adapted so that acid weight and cell voltage are equalised.
