MTM-HF
The MTM-HF is a regulated, programmable primary switched charger with charging curves for most battery types (e.g. valve-regulated lead and NiCd) and applications (trucks, AGV’s, cleaning machines etc.) The charging process is optimised for every existing battery type and application, so that the battery is fully charged in the shortest possible time with low water consumption and minimal wear on the battery.
The charger only weighs 9 kg excl. of cabling and has small exterior dimensions, which make it suitable for wall assembly, thus reducing the risk of collision and other exterior damage. Also, valuable floor space is freed up.
In this way, the MTM-HF complements the conventional MTM programme.
Function
The MTM-HF charges with constant current and voltage in sequences dictated by among others battery manufacturers. Charging time is shorter compared to a Wa charger of the corresponding size. The charger has an integrated real-time clock and a remote starter as standard.
Unlike with Wa chargers, the charging process is not affected by variations in mains voltage.
Microcomputer
The charger’s microcomputer continuously calculates the suitable charging output and monitors charging progress. It discontinues charging if any fault is encountered in the battery or the charger, temporarily or definitely depending on the nature of the fault. The MTM-HF also indicates the fault type on the display. The MTM-HF is pre-programmed from the factory, but can easily be re-programmed from the keyboard when changing battery types or operating conditions. For this, an authorisation code is required.
When changing battery type, there are a number of predefined charging curves that can be chosen from using the keyboard.
Display and keyboard
The display is alphanumeric, displaying error messages and other information in clear. Information on charging time, Ah values, mains voltage, statistics, etc. can be easily accessed from the keyboard. Three diodes indicate how far charging has progressed.
The charger is delivered with programmes in different language variants. Without changing the programme capsule, one can choose between two text-based languages and a “universal” symbolic language. In addition to the symbolic language, Swedish, English, German and Finnish are available.
Statistics
Statistics for the last five charges, any deviations and an operational profile are stored in the charger’s memory together with times. The information can be read via the display or service aids.
Extra charging
A common phenomenon is feeling one is getting less capacity from the battery after the weekend. This happens even when the battery has been connected to the charger and received trickle charging. The lower output of the battery is due, among other things, to the temperature of the battery sinking during the weekend. The MTM’s “extra charging” function remedies this effectively and gives the battery full output. The desired weekday and time is set via the keyboard and “extra charging” then occurs automatically at the same time every week.
Delayed charging
This function is used when a lower electricity tariff can be used. The desired start time is set via the keyboard. When the charger is connected to the battery, trickle charging starts to avoid sulphating. Remaining time until the start of charging is shown on the display.
