SMC-HF 

The SMC-HF is a regulated, primary switched charger with charging curves for most battery types (e.g. valve-regulated lead and NiCd) and applications (trucks, AGV’s, cleaning machines etc.) The charging process is optimised for every existing battery type and application, so that the battery is fully charged in the shortest possible time with low water consumption and minimal wear on the battery. 
The charger is very light, the SMC-HF 24/30 for example only weighing 1.5 kg including cabling and having small exterior dimensions. This makes it suitable for wall assembly, thus releasing valuable floor space. 
The little charger for the big battery 
 
The SMC-HF chargers are controlled by the integrated microcomputer. 
All chargers in the SMC-HF family deliver constant current up to 2.40 V/cell, for example, and then constant voltage at this level. 
The current diminishes to a preset level (depending on the size and type of the battery) and then remains constant at this level during a period of time that is calculated depending on the degree of discharge. Charging ends with a trickle charge at, for example, 2.26 V/cell. Charging progress is indicated by a diode that glows orange during charging and green at full charge and blinks red on errors. A fan is started to increase cooling as necessary. The fan is speed-controlled for quiet running and long life. The outlet is protected electronically against faulty connections (fuse) and short-circuiting. The SMC-HF 600, 800 and 1600 are the perfect choice for on-board charging. 
 

Safety function

 
  • The charger requires a counter voltage of 1.4-2.89 V/cell from a battery in order to start. 
  • Unconnected, the charger is dead. 
  • The charger works with different shutoff times. If these times are exceeded, the charger is turned off and gives an error indication. 
  • Automatic output limitation on insufficient cooling. 
  • Soft start before the charger reaches full output. 
 

Options 

The SMC-HF charger also comes as a double-isolated wheelchair charger or as a lab unit for service mechanics and battery repairers. 
Temperature compensation. 
External diode and start lock on the built-in charger.
